BIM Policy Development – buildingSMART Canada

The presentation identifies the common challenges facing policy makers as they approach BIM policy development. It then introduces five complementary Macro Adoption Models covering diffusion areas, maturity topics, diffusion dynamics, policy actions and diffusion responsibility. It then briefly presents the data collected in 2015 from 95 experts across 20 countries. The presentation also showcased a sample case study where one of the models were used to formulate a BIM adoption policy (Brazil). It finally presented a sample BIM Policy Development Roadmap and a generic BIM Policy Development Plan.

The presentation was jointly delivered by Dr. Bilal Succar (BIM Excellence + University of Newcastle, AU) and Dr. Mohamad Kassem (Teesside University, UK) at the bSC Member’s Community Meeting (online) on March 30, 2016.
