Change or be Changed – RTC News

I was watching an interview this week with Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn) and Marc Andreessen (Netscape founder and Silicon Valley VC) from the Code 2017 conference (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F63zWfQwqzI – skip to 17:45 if you want to jump to the relevant portion).  Andreessen claims that Health-care, Education and Construction, the “slow change sectors” of the economy, are poised to “eat the economy”.  Those are each sectors where prices have been rising rapidly and technology has had little impact.  He goes on to say “fully loaded construction costs have doubled since the year 2000 in the US”.  That’s both depressing and invigorating; depressing that our industry has been so stagnant and invigorating that it doesn’t have to stay that way.  There are plenty of opportunities to affect change.

 

We have to change and get serious about innovation.  If we don’t, someone will do it for us.  That’s not a position you want to find yourself in.  Better…
