Hot Dam! Take a Field Trip to the Hoover Dam with Autodesk

It’s one thing to learn about infrastructure (and how to make it). It’s another thing to learn about it while you’re actually standing on and in the infrastructure. This year you can do both at AU Las Vegas.

That’s right, people: we’re offering a field trip to the Hoover Dam on Monday afternoon before AU starts.

In case you skipped that day in your college engineering class, the Hoover Dam is one of the greatest engineering feats of its age. When it was completed in 1936, it was the tallest dam in the world (and remains among America’s largest today) and housed the world’s first hydroelectric power station. An astonishing 3.25 million cubic yards of concrete went into it. But perhaps even more astonishing, it was finished ahead of schedule.

Buses leave from the Venetian on Monday, November 13 at 12:30 p.m. When you arrive at the dam, guides from the United States Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) will lead tours of the exterior.
