Farewell To Dr. Richard Leakey

The world lost a tough impactful warrior this a week, Dr. Richard Leakey. Without Richard Leakey who was a world renowned paleontologist turned conservationist, there may not have have been a science rich research work, or perhaps a single living elephant or rhino remaining in Kenya. And we certainly wouldn’t have had my friend, another world renowned paleontologist and anthropologist as well as Autodesk university speaker, Dr. Louise Leakey.

I am grateful to have met Dr. Richard Leakey, his lovely world renowned paleontologist wife Meave Leakey, and 3 generations of Leakey family and show them how amazing Autodesk technology is. Fellow Autodesk colleague Gonzalo Martinez and myself were capturing 3D models of 2 million year old human ancestors and researching the use of photogrammetry with flying large drones mapping fossils in the remote and rugged Northern Lake Turkana of Kenya.
