New Autodesk AI Assistant
Before jumping to the best new features, let’s tackle what will probably get the most attention: the Autodesk AI assistant.
This AI tool was announced last fall at Autodesk University. In the “live demo”, the assistant was shown to automate window placement in a façade.
This assistant is currently very limited. I’ve tried a dozen tasks, and most of them failed.
I asked to create a sheet and place a floor plan view and a ceiling plan. It did create the sheet, but added a section and told me it couldn’t create a ceiling plan.
I asked to set a red graphic override for walls with a fire rating of 60. It told me “mission accomplished!”, but nothing happened. I asked it to create a view filter instead of a graphic override. It told me it didn’t have the capacity to do that.
I asked what happened, and it went on a typical AI rant of “I am so sorry!”, but proceeded with confusing…
